Tribute to Khandro Semo Lhanzey La
on her Mahaparinirvana’s First Anniversary
July 1st marked Khandro Semo Lhanzey la’s one year anniversary that she entered into Mahaparanirvana. She was the niece of Kyabjé Dungse Shenphen Dawa Norbu Rinpoche and cousin of H.E. Dungse Namgay Dawa Rinpoche and H.E. Khatok Situ Rinpoche.
From Yeshe Nyingpo temple in New York City, H.E. Dungse Namgay Dawa Rinpoche dedicated two days to honor the memory of Khandro Semo Lhanzey la. On June 30th, the Lake Born ts’og was performed, and on July 1st, Lama Dorsem Chopa. The practices were live-streamed on Facebook.
Nyingma Tersar joined the celebrations honoring the memory of Khandro Semo Lhanzey la. On June 30th, we performed the Lake Born ts’og, led by Lama Yeshe Chödrön, and on July 1st we made a massive candle offering.
Here we share a piece of the text called “Remembering Khandro Semo Lhanzey la“, written by H.E. Dungse Namgay Dawa Rinpoche and published at Tersar.org:
We owe Semo-la a debt of gratitude because of the relentless work she did for our Dudjom Tersar, without ever seeking the limelight, and for always being there for us. I will always remember one of the things that she often told me: “It is not the height of the throne nor the amount of silk that you are draped in, nor the amount of devotees that you have around you that defines you, rather it is your service to the people with noble intentions and motivations. Don’t live for the sake of showing off but live genuinely and serve humbly.”
Here we share some images of the offerings and celebrations which Nyingma Tersar performed in order to honor Khandro Semo Lhanzey la’s first Mahaparinirvana anniversary.
